The words that we use to describe things are important. We have decided to standardize some of our terms, not everything follows this guide yet, but we are in the process of referring to all of data/pages/screens in our system in a consistent way.
A patron is someone who consumes content from our service.
These are no longer "Restaurants" or "Spots" they're "places". Place is generic enough that it can refer to things like concert venues and parks, but specific enough and common enough that users know what we're referring to. In the situation where we need to distinguish between end users and our customers we may use language like "For Businesses" instead of "For Places".
Events are what is being offered by a place. These used to be referred to as offers or deals, event is broad enough to communicate the meaning but not so specific that it has a negative association.
These are no longer "Offers" or "Deals".
