The First 4 Vegan Restaurants To Visit In Chattanooga

Most of the vegans living in Chattanooga have probably already scouted out most of the popular vegan restaurants in Chattanooga, but here’s our list of recommendations in case you’re new to town or missed a couple.

Chattanooga’s rich downtown culture and rural surroundings make it an ideal place for restaurants working with fresh produce from local farms. These five Chattanooga restaurants take advantage of local farms and turn their produce into incredible meals with guilt-free ingredients and all the Chattanooga groove you could hope for.

Sluggo’s North Vegetarian Cafe

via tripadvisor

Sluggos is maybe the best-known Chattanoogan vegan spot. Corey Evatt on their facebook page put it perfectly; “Eating here is a rite of passage for every local vegan. Whether it’s a late night dinner or Sunday brunch, you will never walk away hungry or disappointed.” Sluggo’s serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and drinks, and their basement hosts live music at night; it truly is a one-stop-shop kind of place with incredible food, outdoor seating, (and a parking lot!) catering (literally) to all your vegetarian and vegan cravings. Their menu is available on their facebook page here.

Cashew

If somehow you’ve never visited Cashew before, you’ve definitely seen their vegan donuts at The Meeting House, Peet’s Coffee, Wildflower Tea Shop, Revelator, and Local Juice. In addition to their vegan bakery offerings, Cashew serves lunch Wednesday through Saturday, dinner on Fridays, and (when the stars align periodically), an incredible reservation-only 5 course dinner from their storefront downtown. Read through their daily menu here and visit them at 149 River Street.

The Local Juicery + Kitchen

Local Juice is known for its innovative seasonal specials- head over this summer for a popsicle, smoothie bowl or cold-pressed juice. This fully-stocked superfood cafe is located right downtown at 48 East Main Street. Their new coffee menu features coffee soda, cold brew and an espresso bar with lattes made from plant based milks. Local is the perfect place to stop by for a quick pick-me-up or a whole meal on the go.

Southern Sqweeze

Open at two locations downtown, (one downtown at 818 Georgia Avenue and one in North Chattanooga at 1209 Tremont Street), Southern Sqweeze serves up juice, smoothies and snacks to on-the-go Chattanoogans looking for something fresh. Look through their food menu here, and the rest of their creations (tonics, juices, smoothies, lattes, milks, and more) here. Their ready-made juices are always stocked, so Southern is a great place to hang or drop by if you’re low on time.
